Mrs.Sarah Knightbridge, who co-ordinated the event, commented "This is an excellent opportunity for our A-Level PE students to really gain a deeper understanding of one of the major topics within the syllabus whilst also taking on a new challenge."

Sixth Former Molly Colburn
"I really enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball. As well as being a lot of fun, the experience was educational and I am now a lot more aware of a fantastic sport which allows all to take part. The instruction was detailed and very interesting - overall, it was a great day and I would love to do it again."

Testimonial
"Once again I would like to thank you for the demonstration and skills to the students at UWIC. These days are so beneficial to the students' understanding of diability sport. As I know you are well aware the actual practical 'doing' of the skills stimulates the students in terms of motivation and understanding."

Sixth Form College Lecturer
"The A2 students liked the history aspect of the talk that you gave them, and found it interesting that able-bodied people could take part. They also enjoyed putting the wheelchairs together and they thoroughly enjoyed the drills. They were able to experience the difficulty of the sport and the skills needed to be successful. They loved doing all 'the fun chains'and games."

"The session really increased their awareness of disabled sport and that there are no differences but only adaptations needed. The skills are just as difficult in both bodied and disabled. They are now able to have the first hand knowledge of how to integrate disabled athletes into their coaching session without having to exclude them because of their disability. It was a really worthwhile activity. They were in admiration of these athletes."

"From my point of view the knowledge they have nor acquired from participating in this event was fantastic. It was great to see them actually change their opinions because of being involved. This has been a beneficial activity and complements areas within their course/education. Some had never been in a wheelchair before (and had to push themselves!!!). One comment when we arrived back to the college was 'That was awesome!' and another was 'I really enjoyed that'".
